Coastal Voice is a unique Heritage Lottery funded project created by Music In Mind and Gazooky Studios, bringing together music, memory, and place. It explores the heritage of three coastal towns through interviews, community workshops, and creative collaborations. At its heart was a one-hour multimedia performance, featuring musicians from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra integrated with stories of local people sharing their relationship with the sea.
The project brought together the voices and stories of each community, blending orchestral performance with documentary storytelling. The result was a powerful reflection of coastal life, showing how the sea shapes culture, identity, and belonging.
Gazooky Studios used their 6DPixie platform to create a digital legacy: a geolocated trail of augmented reality experiences. Visitors can now explore the coastal towns, discovering video operas and creative work overlaid onto the physical landscape, standing in the very places where the stories began.
“We have collaborated with the Gazooky team on a number of projects over the past few years and their expertise, creativity and innovative approach aligns perfectly with our vision.”
John McHugh, Director of Music in Mind, and composer of Coastal Voice
